Mounts to the door-side air vent. Which bracket you use depends on which vent your car has — check that first, then work through the steps.

Start here
Find your vent
Open the door and look at the round vent closest to it. Three types were fitted across these cars — match yours, then follow that path in the install section below.
Type A
R55–R61
Four thin spokes radiating from a small centre hub, inside a plain outer ring.
Uses Bracket A × 2
Type B
F55–F57 · pre-LCI
Horizontal slats running across the face, with a round knob in the middle.

Type C
F55–F57 · LCI
Four stubby rounded vanes in a cross, around a large centre knob.

Installation
Fit it
Do it with the car parked. Step 1 is the same for everyone; then follow only the path for your vent type; then steps 4–6 are common again.
1 · Open the vent
Turn the air direction plate so the vanes face straight forward, then turn the centre knob to fully open.
2 · Fit Bracket A to the base
Press the rubber ring and base together so they sit as one piece. Pass a screw through each marked hole and start Bracket A on it — just enough to hold. Bracket A is handed: check the orientation against the drawing for your side of the car.
Leave it loose
At this stage no screw head should stand more than 1 mm proud of the bracket's outer cover. If it does, the assembly won't slide into the vent.
3 · Hook it into the vent
Check the left and right brackets are the right way round, then push the assembly in until the brackets reach the innermost part of the vane and hook on firmly.
2 · Fit Bracket L and Bracket R
Press the rubber ring and base together. Pass a screw through each marked hole and start Bracket L on the left and Bracket R on the right — just enough to hold.
L and R are not the same
The two brackets are different shapes. Fitting them the wrong way round stops the base seating in the vent.
Leave the screws loose — no head more than 1 mm proud of the outer cover.
3 · Hook it into the vent
With the brackets the right way round, push the assembly in until it reaches the innermost part of the vane and hooks on firmly.
2 · Fit Bracket Z to the base
Press the rubber ring and base together. Pass a screw through each marked hole and start a Bracket Z on each side — just enough to hold.
Leave it loose
At this stage no screw head should stand more than 1 mm proud of the bracket's outer cover. If it does, the assembly won't slide into the vent.
3 · Hook it into the vent
Check the bracket orientation, then push the assembly in until it reaches the innermost part of the vane and hooks on firmly.
4 · Tighten the screws
Hold the base pulled gently forward and tighten both screws alternately with the Phillips driver, a little at a time.
Do not overtighten
Too much torque cracks the vent's plastic — snug is enough.
Then rock the base gently left and right. If it tilts to one side a bracket hasn't hooked on: back the screws off and start again from step 2.
5 · Line up the cup holder
Bring the cup holder up to the base and line each lug up with its slot.
6 · Turn it clockwise to lock
Rotate the cup holder clockwise until it stops and you feel it lock.
Check before you use it
Give it a light pull. An unlocked holder can drop the drink or damage the part.
On the Type C (LCI) vent the holder sits slightly right of centre once installed — that's normal and doesn't affect use.
Day to day
Use it
The support ring folds up and the bottom drops open, so the holder takes anything from a slim can to a bottle.
Flip the ring up
Swing the support ring up and away from the face of the holder.
Drop the bottom open
Push the bottom support down until it sits flat and level.
Set the ring angle
Angle the ring to match how thick the container is — steeper for a can, flatter for a bottle.
